Gasoline prices are marching into springtime at record highs, and some drivers are already bracing for cutbacks in their car use if prices stay this high for long.

The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas in Riverside and San Bernardino on Friday hit $4.21, a seven-cent jump overnight that placed prices almost 50 cents more than they were in late January.
