McMahon might not notice it, but there is one problem: After decades of work, the trail envisioned from Redlands to Newport Beach is still not finished, and flood-control projects along the route will lead to possible delays and movement of the pathway.
The largest section of the trail — a nearly 20-mile stretch from Riverside to the Orange County line that goes through Norco, Eastvale, Corona and the unincorporated county — is years away from construction but is making progress, said Patricia Lock-Dawson, a consultant on the three-county project. Environmental review of the project was completed in January, and more detailed design will start once a firm is chosen this summer, she said.
“It might not look like anything is going on,” she said. “But you’d be amazed what’s been accomplished.”
