RIVERSIDE COUNTY: Gas prices drive historic bus ridership

Gasoline prices well above $4 have had the predictable effect of boosting ridership, filling Riverside Transit Agency buses to record levels for February.

The agency reported 758,511 riders hopped on buses last month, a 15.2 percent increase compared to February 2011 and the first time ridership for that month has ever exceeded 700,000.
