WEST – Instinct kicked in after the force of the fertilizer plant explosion knocked Zachery Kocain back five feet in the cornfield where he was standing.”Me and my friend, we started to crawl,” Kocain recalled Thursday from the same field where he was recording the fire with his phone less than 20 hours earlier. “Then I told him to run because the pieces of the plant would start coming down.”Kocain, a wiry 17-year-old, sprinted away, then circled back to his house across the street when he realized his mother was panicking.”My mom went into shock,” Kocain said. “I heard my mom scream my babies because she thought I was dead.”
